Re: Stuart’s ‘All New’ Backseat Blunders II
3rd finish of the year - Matchbox's H.S/Bae Hawk T.1A. (My DNF from the Matchbox GB)
Not a bad kit this - it's one of my favourite kits from when I was a child. It's not too bad accuracy wise, it certinaly looks like a Hawk. If I was going to build another one (which I will), it only really needs extra panel lines in places and some strakes and wing fences added to bring it up to modern standards - and maybe a bit of work in the cockpit - but that's nothing new with old kits :bag:
The model was brush painted with Humbrol Acrylic paints. The weathering was done with a F&C Pitt artists brush pen and some Humbrol weathering powders.
I'm trying to work on my photography. This is about the best light/flash set up I managed today - annoyingly however, although I had the lens set to F/22 and on a tripod - I had the wrong focus point. Something to learn in the future. I'd certainly appriciate some feedback on the pictures as it's something I'm trying to improve on.
Here's a picture of the undersides - it's from an earlier test batch of pics so it might not be as good.
Cheers

Very nicely done Stu. It's an aircraft that suits being posed in flight so well

A very nicely finished and photographed Hawk, Stuart - it looks great in-flight on that classic Matchbox stand. If you want to improve the kit quickly, as opposed to going to town on it, I would suggest as a minimum adding the wing fences, together with the strakes either side of the air brake under the rear fuselage.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Classic! As Dazzled says, it looks so natural posed in flight
Best wishes

Thanks very much Gents - You're too kind.
Shaun -I fully agree and will add those bits to the next one.

Re: Stuart’s ‘All New’ Backseat Blunders II
I seem to have gone a bit mad over the weekend, it must have been all of that chocolate after 8 weeks of dieting – not only did I manage to progress (finally) the odds and sods bits for the Corsair (pictures to follow), but I also started the NT Airfix A-4B Skyhawk, the old Hasegawa A-4E/F Skyhawk, and a Hobbyboss 1/72 Easybuild Hellcat. That’s as well as having two F-16’s (Airfix and MB) on the go.
AND, now there’s this old Tool Airfix 1/72 Me262 lurking at the edge of the bench, challenging me to take it on…
Help!

Sounds busy Stuart and plenty for us to look forward to. I remember building the old Airfix '262 back in the 70's (I recall it came in a hard plastic Series 1 blister pack, with "White 11" decals!) no doubt there are some inaccuracies, IIRC the canopy shape is not much cop, but hey ho at least there's bombs in there to make a Sturmvogel fighter-bomber if you so feel inclined!

I've only ever made the Revell 1/72 Me262 so I can't imagine how bad an aged Airfix version could be; good luck with it, in amongst all the other ongoing builds!
Best wishes

Lol - Yes it's certainly of it's time. The nose of the bombs however will be used to sort out the engine intakes.ShaunW wrote:Sounds busy Stuart and plenty for us to look forward to. Sounds intriguing Stuart, I haven't built the kit since the 70's and I don't know where all of the correction work is really needed so I look forward to your efforts!Sir T wrote:Lol - Yes it's certainly of it's time. Of course, Airfix is bringing out a new one which (hopefully) would save you the trouble, but where's the fun in that?
