If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Very stylish though it seems a bit odd with a French pattern cockade.

Looking forward to getting mine later today from the Post Office (we were out when it was due to be delivered  ); sounds like you are impressed from your comments in the 262 thread :-D

arrrggghhh - Bummer! I hate it when that happens.

Oh I am - first impression are good. I'm looking forward to getting some paint on it and getting it built up. I'll be interested to see how well the main assemblies go together.

Look forward to seeing the pics, Stuart. This sounds like a proper good kit! I know that Naziwaffe markings are not to everyone's taste and fair enough, but you could build one of these as a captured example in U.S. markings or as a post war Czech Avia S-92 if you have any suitable decals in your stash.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Yeah I'm going to see what's out there Shaun - or I might just bite the bullet and build it with the kit decals.

Here are some pictures as promised -

The box is pretty big... (next to the Typhoon box)

Image

But with not a lot in it. Only one big and two small sprues - It's defo broken down for future releases of a fighter bomber and I reckon a two-seater - The cockpit tub assm would support that.

Image

Very nicely detailed cockpit! This is going to look good under paint - I need to dig out my RLM enamels.

Image

And this is where I am - fuse halves together with bulkhead, spars and bulkhead attached to wings, and both halves of the tub assembled!

Image

Bring on the paint! (And bloody well done Airfix!)

Cheers!

Get stuck in and why not! it looks great, Stuart. Jeez, so many light years away from the original release. One of these is very likely to go on my Telford/pre-Christmas shopping list as well as the Phantom. These new tool kits are just so tempting!!

Like you Shaun I'm looking forward to the F-4

Lovely jubbly. I spy some blanked over holes in the wings, which I presume are for R4M missile racks and there also appear to be drop tanks on the sprues - sure indicators that we are going to get more versions of the aircraft in due course. Possibly a whole family, including the two-seaters. Not trying to teach my grandmother to suck eggs, Stuart, but don't forget to add some nose weight as I have a feeling that a '262 model will tail sit without, unless of course you a making an in-flight model and can therefore ignore my ramblings :ha:

I've had a root around my newly arrived 262, as Stuart says, not the most plastic you've ever seen in a box but what there is looks to be perfectly formed :-D
It'll be a while before I get to build it so looking out for any pitfalls here first!
Best wishes

Just found this: that brings back memories because the old too was the third model I ever made - more years ago than I care to remember or reveal!

I converted one of these to a two-seater in the early 1970's - it was the first conversion I ever attempted and was followed by a series of prototypes based on the same airframe: all courtesy A. Hall and Airfix Magazine, and an Airmodel conversion set as I could not then mould a canopy, (early aftermarket). I still have the model in the roof - I keep it for nostalgic reasons although it is not too bad, just one or two bits knocked off.

Looking at your photos this kit is from another world.
