Miguelito's shiny work bench

Post by mjatx »

I've got three works in progress that are pretty far along, so I thought I'd start a new project (and an Airfix to boot!) for this new thread. I'm new around here and my skills aren't nearly the caliber of the work I've seen on here, but I figure when more eyes are watching, everyone works harder.

First up, the Airfix by Craft Master, Bristol Beaufighter.

The clear parts are too thick, the engines leave a lot to be desired, and the cockpit detail is a pilot...fortunately, Roger's looking pretty good.

Other than adding a few details in the cockpit, and getting some new decals, this will be straight OOB. The kit also includes one of my favorite features....

the stand! Needless to say, this will be a gear up, stand on build, which means I won't be able to use the torpedo on this one.

Miguelito, have a quick look at the halves of the torpedo-I seem to remember that it also had a stand slot.

Sweet! Thanks, David!

I guess I missed "the torpedo on the stand step" in the detailed instructions!

Here's this morning's progress. I added some details to the cockpit. Obviously, I took some artistic license and just added some things so the pilot wasn't the entire cockpit detail. I had an instrument panel decal from...I think...a p-40, and I added some other extras with some wire, plastic card, and stretched sprue.

In the end, I think the canopy is so thick you won't be able to see any of it.

I like the way you've busied-up the cockpit. There's nothing wrong with a bit of artistic licence, particularly when it looks this good :)

Great work with this old kit, the cockpit is certainly 100% better than comes as standard!

Thanks for the compliments. I also managed to paint Keith and Roger last night too, they'll probably look better at "normal" viewing distance sitting behind the clear...more like translucent...pieces.

I like what you have done in the cockpit it doesn't need to accurate, just gives an impression of something going on. As this looks like a very old vintage the parts should go together much better than the latest release of this kit.
