SAMI issues
SAMI issues
Wondering if anyone else have had an issue like this.
Back in April I renewed my subscription to SAMI and have never received a single issue. Emails have been exchanged with Mr Mark Willey with the promise that my “papers are in order” and past issues have been posted. After one month with no results I recontacted him and now he told me that there was a “database issue” and again “papers are in order”. I was advised that due to my patience I would get my magazines plus a book of my choice to make things right. Another month goes by with no results.
To make matters worse, my local bookstore that handled the magazine is going out of business.
I advised Mr Willey to credit my card $119.00USD and call it a day. And that hasn’t happened.
Thoughts or ideas welcome.

Can you claim from your credit card? - if you originally paid that way
I know my credit card offers a sort of 'insurance' on purchases which don't turn up or are faulty
Also; In the UK we have a [fairly] simple system of taking each other to court in cases like this - its called 'Small Claims' court; a small court admin fee [which you get back if you win] and no lawyers allowed
Might you have something similar?

Re: SAMI issues
We have small claims court over here. I have subscribed for years with no issues until now. I will check with my credit card company but to much time may have gone by. Point being is it is so unlike the business as I have experienced.
I can also add my post office is not holding anything for my attention.

Re: SAMI issues
I had a similar issue when Marine Modelling International (Traplet) went under with no notice.
I wrapped up several emails I had sent and passed them on to my credit card issuer with a request for a refund.
Got a temp refund in a week and full confirmation in a couple months after they figured out Traplet went belly up - noy same circumstances as SAM Publ / SAMI, but it works.
There is no magazine that good that they get 3 strikes ....

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

Re: SAMI issues
Wanted to post an update to this problem. Today in the mail I received the December issue if SAMI. Not sure where this will lead but maybe things are sorted.

Re: SAMI issues
I renewed my subscription, but deliveries have stopped. May is the last one, and April has vanished. I've written to them, but no answer.
Their NEWS Page has a few bits about problems with deliveries, though SAM gets through OK, so do model orders.
I'm a bit concerned TBH

So many models, so little time.

Re: SAMI issues
PM sent, Jeff.
As some of you know, I am a former contributor to SAMi and MA. I no longer have any dealings with them. I will not comment on the forum what I think is going on. However, there is a three-page thread regarding SAMI and MA over at Britmodeller and I'd advise anyone with an interest to go read it ASAP. There's a lot seems to have happened and is happening, but you all need to make up your own minds where you want to go with the information once you've read it.

Re: SAMI issues
Just received my August / September issue. ( 1 Mag covering two dates.) A bit out of date, as it shows model show dates for August September October. No mention in the editorial about the current issues, which was a bit of a cop out.
It features a number of kit reviews, which are basically lots of finished photos with the build detail in the writing, alone. Very few build shots. This has been a constant irritation for me, which has led to my considering dropping this title and trying their sister mag, Model Aircraft.
My September Issue is due at the end of November, though that may now become the Octember issue in December / January.

Re: SAMI issues
The thread on Britmodeller now runs to 9 pages and there are some extremely unhappy subscribers and former contributors.....

Re: SAMI issues
The October / November issue has just arrived. Pretty much the same old format. The paper feels different. Matt, not gloss. Maybe a new printer.
Still no word about the issues, either in the mag, or the packaging.

Re: SAMI issues
The magazine seems to have morphed into a Model Aircraft / Model AFV Magazine. Two copies have made it through, to date. I won't be renewing. I have every issue of this mag, and Scale Aircraft Modelling, since Day One.
So many models, so little time.

Re: SAMI issues
Shame that a good mag went downhill so fast.
May I encourage you to try Phoenix Aviation Modelling and Phoenix Scale Modelling? Brought to you by the same CREATIVE team behind the old SAMi.
