Airfix Guide: Modelling RAF Vehicles by Gerald Scarborough

Post by CementNotGlue »

A criticism is that too many army vehicles are included. In defence, the book merely reflects the huge number of vehicles shared by all three services. Though scant attention is paid to painting and there are no pictures of models. Instead there are useful 1/76 plans and photos. Mould-makers for the RAF Re-supply set did not have to look far for plans!

Useful kits get a mention. Though the AEC Matador gets one measly paragraph - I want to know if the RAF used the early, streamlined flat-roof version and how would it have been painted in 1940?

Highlights are plans for a home-defence barrage balloon and associated support vehicles. Leyland Retriever with crane for the Matchbox/Revell kit and Morris vans for the Bofors kit.

64 pages. Patrick Stephens 1978
