Boy's Book of Airfix

Post by Brickie »

Popped into our local The Works at lunchtime and, beside some Zero starter kits, I found this - link to Amazon with the "look inside" page

Looked like a nice little book about the history of Airfix as a company, and just £6.

It's all right if you haven't got Ward's other book on Airfix. This one is also slightly better written.

I have the older Ward book. It is a nice book as it does encompass the history of the company and has lots of nice pictures and interesting lists etc. However, the written English is not very good, in my opnion, and there is far too litle objective reviewing of the quality of Airfix kits. It also tends to ignore the context of Airfix as just one of the major players in what was becoming a world wide industry in the 1960s.
