South Australian Model Show 2014

Post by bilby1968 »

Coming up the weekend of 11 & 12 of October at the CBC gym in Wakefield Street Adelaide.

Will be online by then, cross fingers, and we have some snaps to share.

I am sure my fellow South Aussie, Clash City Rocker, will also have some pics to upload as well.

A friend is doing an Airfix box art display which is looking really good from the completes so far.

Stay safe

Here are my pics from the comps.
First one I saw as I walked in was this Fokker. The very same one I'm building at the moment

Image

Here's another one that caught my eye. Haven't seen a built up one of these in a long time, the FW 189

Image

Another rarely seen model is the Airfix BV 141. Here are two

Image

Image

Some beautiful camo painting on this one

Image

Image

A nice Airfix Hanover

Image

Image

A very nice,and big, Revell BV 222

Image

Image

These were all 144 scale, small and impressive

Image

A nice scheme on this Macchi

Image

More later

Part 2
A couple of helicopters. First a nice Hind

Image

And a very colourful H 21

Image

I liked the way the white on this had come out, it's also a pretty cool looking truck

Image

With a nice load

Image

Who doesn't like Elvira

Image

Some of the dioramas
This one appealed because of the combi vans

Image

This was a shot down Albatros on the morning of November 11 1918

Image

This was very good all round, a well done crashed aircraft and some excellent water which even contained a hammerhead shark

Image

Image

Not sure if this was a liquid or a solid block of resin. Either way it looked heavy. The ship was nicely detailed too

Image

A bit blurry but this Harbour Tug was very well detailed and weathered

Image

More next post.

Part 3
This collection of small scale commercial vehicles. All done from various military kits from different manufacturers

Image

Image

Image

Some box art

Image

Image

Image

And finally something that I thought looked pretty good, a squadron of Spitfires all together

Image

A schwarm of Messerschmitts

Image

A Hurricane squadron

Image

And lastly, a bit blurry, but these looked great together

Image

That's my lot, enjoy.

The dioramas were the highlight of the show for me and especially that Tony as well as the sunken roma.

The Airifx display was put up by a good friend of mine, Peteer, and he did a top job considering the last few weeks he was ploughing through the kits to get them finished

i have my lot but until I get my internet on in the new place they will sit on the camera.

You don't often see the grey/blue one being completed by anyone. There are a couple of other Comets schemes that are also done by a Canadian decal maker

The Roma was actually sitting in coloured water. I have shots from the other side which shows the main section sitting on a ledge

Some nice ideas there - I see the boxart phenomena has spread around the world now!
