Wendover Air Show, USA. Link to pics

Post by philp »

Hi all,

Today was the Air Show at Historic Wendover Air Field. Some of you may have heard of this base. It was used to train P-47, B-17, B-24 and B-29 crews including the Atomic bombers. The base still has a lot of the original buildings from the 40's and some are under restoration.

The show itself was fairly small but had lots of interesting stuff for airplane buffs, military vehicles and even some cars.

The pics are too big to post here so follow the link to the album.

Oh yeah, I paid for a fight in a T-6 Texan. The pilot even let me control the plane for a bit. Definitely the high point for me.

Did you have to knock the pilot out first?

No, in fact he made the offer. Of course we had talked a bit before the flight started. I am a pretty nice guy after all

Guess I was a little too docile with it. He wanted me to do some real banking and the view from the rear seat is useless in flying, especially if you really have no idea what you are doing.

I flew for about 10 minutes and then asked him to take control back.

Still, another one off the Bucket List.
