Much as I'd love to make the trip, it'd involve leave as I'm working most of that weelend & I'm saving my leave like mad for a trip over a much larger stretch of water later in the year. Is this an annual, biennial or what?

Biennial normally...skipped a year to realign back to its traditional autumn timeframe...

I could only make the first day but it was a great day, caught up with a bunch of great people and saw some awesome models, walked away with a lighter wallet and a fuller car...
Wingnut Wings premiered their latest release the Roland Walfisch, very nostalgic of the old Airfix one...
...and very nice to see that the Rex Crawford collection of RAF aircraft models has been preserved by the club following Rex's passing and was on display in all its glory...

Does the link not work, Paul? There should be another couple of hundred images on the other end?

Missed it - that blue type totally passed me by...
Some really nice stuff there - love the eggplane collection; it's cracking! Thanks for sharing, Simon!

I can see this is something I really should try to get to the next time around. Have they set a date for the next time yet?

It will probably be around this time 2016 - so long as I have been going, it has been a biennial event with the in-between year in some other NZ location...

I think that the key is to make sure you finish at least one model a year so that even if you don't get the advance notice, you can just grab something and go...just across the ditch for you...

Hey, Simon - glad you could make it along.
Thanks for posting the photos, it's good to see there are shots of the show online.
Yep, it was great to see 'The Crawford Collection' there in it's almost-entirety. Not sure what will be happening with it, as it's still owned by the family.
Nice to know people had a good time - I mean, a whole weekend of talking, displaying, buying and making models; what's not to like?!
Cheers
PS - if I'd realized it was you taking the pic of the Johnsons Klear-replacement information, I'd've said 'Hi' - so, a belated 'Hi'...

Not sure if this has come up on here before, but what exactly is this as far as the NZ market is concerned. Is it the stuff from Bunnings?Rick Lowe wrote: PS - if I'd realized it was you taking the pic of the Johnsons Klear-replacement information, I'd've said 'Hi' - so, a belated 'Hi'...

Steve, sorry for the very belated reply... the Bunnings stuff is what I have been advised is an equivalent, but I haven't tracked any down as yet, much less tried it out...
I have been told that the Reeve brand Artist's Matt Clear Varnish from Whitcoulls is a good matt coat, able to be brushed well and dries dead clear and dead flat... despite the fact it's white in the bottle and when first applied...!!
(presumably so one can, indeed, 'watch the paint dry'... groan)
Cheers

Hi Rick, I am waiting to my next trip near Bunnings to check this stuff out too...I think that my last bottle of Kleer is no good (or words to that effect) as it has gone all cloudy and doesn't seem to be able to dry clear or self-level anymore...see my TSR.2 build for some blurry pics...I will race you to post a review...
