Classic British Kit Fairey Swordfish Chat

A fast and furious month-long build, to take place during July, 2011. Gentlemen, grab your string bags (either Airfix, Matchbox or FROG in origin). We have a running start.
Each builder is to have a unique build (i.e There will be no two Eugene Esmondes in this GB).
For further information, please PM either JRatz, Brews or PaulBradley.

I'd never noticed before, but yes, it does have the off-set fin.
Not sure about the metal skin, because mine has the rocket rails mounted and these are moulded to a plate.

Or is the plate big enough to hide any smooth area?

The skinned surface starts at the 3rd rib outboard of the fold line (ie, the 4th rib) and goes to the 7th rib inboard of the wingtip, which is about midway along the aileron.

Can anyone tell me color (colour) choices for the rocket projectiles carried on the 'Fish?

On the Coastal Command black Swordfish, the rocket heads were black, the main body was black and the tail fins were black. The rocket rails were also, er... black.

I just wanted to make a couple of comments. My thanks to Bruce (Brews) for heading up this group build. This is exactly the way a group build should be. Lots of chat. Lots of references. Lots of advise and ideas based on the others builds. It is great to see all the different schemes.

I, no doubt, would not ever build this kit without the kick in the pants offered by this group build.

It allowed me the chance to do some good old fashioned proper modeling.

I'll second that, Jeff. Not so many finishes, but some nice builds never the less. Cheers, Brews!
