jssel's Red B or hooking a big big fish***finished***

A fast and furious month-long build, to take place during July, 2011. Gentlemen, grab your string bags (either Airfix, Matchbox or FROG in origin). We have a running start.
Each builder is to have a unique build (i.e There will be no two Eugene Esmondes in this GB).
For further information, please PM either JRatz, Brews or PaulBradley.

Thank you for the comments. But it just following my signature line.

In regards to glossing, Brews, I lay down a coat of Future, when dry I apply the decal and pat it down. Following with another coat of Future which, as you say, locks it down with no silvering.

So this morning I have placed ten decals using the above method and it worked well on those old Airfix "wafers".

It's time for Mr Procrastination to start playing with E-Z line

Of course some gloss coat goes first.

Decaling is complete. The Spring/Summer sun worked it's magic in the northern hemisphere and changed the bronze colored decal film into, well, what we see here.

This afternoon there may be time to begin the rigging process. The Merlin Jones method (at least one of his) will be employed. This weekend will see me with some alone time so should "wrap up this little lot."

Finally, this is the way the cockpit area ended up. All scratched out of stock.

OK. After an hour and a half, I am getting the hang of E-Z line. Here is the rear fuselage area completed.

There really isn't anything to it but a little patience. A model building requirement we all know about. So will press on with the wings later today and this weekend. It is feeling right so far.

Very nice, Jeff! As I believe I said before; I do like that colour scheme.

Advances made on the rigging last night. Should have that part done in a few more hours. Final edit of my "to do" list. My acetate windscreen popped off or some reason during the night. My usual fumbling around tells me the end is near on this one.

I made it with a day to spare. What I WILL do is put a wash unto the oil cooler on the fuselage side. I didn't notice that and so didn't put it on my to do list.

This group build was a number of firsts for me:

1. First semi-full rigged biplane.

2. First use of E-Z line.

3. First totally scratched built interior out of plastic stock (no PE)

The torpedo is drying out right now and will be mounted as I want to display the model on the Airfix stand. I had filled in the slot in the fuselage before I realized how I wanted to display it.

I don't think that I ever would have built this kit had it not been for the Group Build. I could not resist the challenge.

For once in a good long time I thought outside the box for most of this build. I loved it.

Hi Bruce. You are correct. As I stated:
What I WILL do is put a wash unto the oil cooler on the fuselage side. I didn't notice that and so didn't put it on my to do list.
Oops :ha: The nearer the end the nasrrower the vision.

Great looking Stringbag, regardless.
How was the rigging for you?
