Chris's Airfix 1/48 Spitfire Mk Vb
Re: Chris's Airfix 1/48 Spitfire Mk Vb
Wash colors is all about effects, it depends on what you are after.
I doubt you will even see it when I apply the coke-bottle-like canopy!

Looks realy good so far Chris i am very intereste to see how this one goes as i welched on getting the Airfix Vb and spent almost twice the money on the Tamiya and so far it looks like i wasted my money.Nice choice on the decals as well, look forward to more of this one.

The kit detail is pretty good considering its age (32 years!)
I considered rescribing for recessed panel lines but decided my hand isn't quite steady enough for that at this time!
Did the putty work and finished the assemby except for teh canopy and landing gear which i always add after primary painting.
I'm considering hauling out the airbrush as i have not used it in years for a plane and my skills with it have dropped.

Well, so far the airbrush had been a disaster, could not get it to spray the paint i wanted to use evenly.
I'm begining to remember why i stopped using one years ago.
I may try again with the green part of the camo, but the base gray is now brush painted and drying.

Looking good Chris. Still a nice kit after all this time isn't it?
Would ya like to learn to fly? Would ya? Would you like to see me try?
Re: Chris's Airfix 1/48 Spitfire Mk Vb
It sure is a pretty kit.
Airfix seems to have captured the essence of a Spitfire quite well, maybe it was home team pride, but even after 30 years it still looks good.

Today's update
added the dark green camo, let it dry overnite before masking and painting the undersides and wing recognition panels.

Not much to report, masked and painted the undersides, its drying.
There is a heat wave here right now, not in the mood to model when its so hot.

Today's update;
Painted the prop, masked off tand painted the id panels.
Still have to paint the walk lines on the wing (no decal fro that, used it on another spit) and the exhuasts, then i can gloss cote for decals.

That's brave, painting the walk lines. I don't think my nerves would stand it...
Cheers
