Is it done now?
Why thank y'all.

Allowing for the non-spherical shape of the earth, global warming, air resistance and second-order distortions in the space-time continuum, the answer would still be tending towards the negative side of positive... :ha:

Cheers

Very well, but you didn't factor in the gravitational tug of the moon, or the rate of exfoliation of exposed portions of Canadian Shield rock. So is it done now?

Due to the time shift between now and when you read this, is it done yet? because it looks great.

Owing to a family outing to the splendidly named Lac St. Pierre de Wakefield, progress has been delayed :)

However, I hope to do some pastel weathering on the Spitfire tonight.

And here we have the latest progress, 15 minutes of dusting, plus a bit of paint touch up on the tyres.

Image

I applied a little black-grey pastel for the cordite stains from the guns, and a mix fo black, grey and a little brown for the exhaust fumes. For this I used quite a fine brush.

Image

Then I give an overall dusting with a light grey powder, mostly to take the edge off the colours a bit and to blend in the darker streaks.

Image

This generally doesn't take very long on a 1/72 WW2 fighter.

Image

Having completely overdone the weathering on my Bf-109 with a wash, I'm back to the pastels, as I can easily wash them off. Also in 1/72 scale, less weathering looks better to my eye. I can see that more elaborate weathering looks good on 1/48 scale though (as Steve has ably demonstrated with the Mk XII in this very GB). I'll have to practice. I have a 1/48 scale Zero to do for the Pearl Harbor GB, and then there's the 1/48 Airfix Spitfire Extravaganza.

cheers

Noooooooooooo!

And I've just spotted that the aerial mast is missing, presumed eaten by the carpet monster.
A replacement has been quickly fabricated (yes, quickly :) ). However, number two son has woken up, so modelling has now finished for the evening.

Cheers

Andrew

PS So it's definitely not finished!

From number one son. The Spitfire.

Did I really say that? :-D
The League of Very Important Modellers will be round later :ha:

And from number two son (with a little help from his assistant, Chantel :) )
