Re: Chipsssss cobra
Thats a great paint job, that seam is a real bummer. Keep going like this and you will be done in no time.

Re: Chipsssss cobra
Thankfully the seam wasn't as bad as it first seemed
Had a really good weekend on it due to the bad weather, and here she is finished:
Thanks for all the support through this. Although at the start I knew it was going to be a challenge, it almost defeated me. But I am glad a kept at it and am now quite pleased with the final outcome. Hope you agree.

Re: Chipsssss cobra
Looks very good...any chance of sticking something next to it, so we can see just how big it is?

Most excellent, Chip. Looks like the snakes I have seen during that time in my life.

Re: Chipsssss cobra
Great result. Ditto Merlins comments - lets see how big the brute is.

Re: Chipsssss cobra ***Finished***
As requested:
Parked next to a paint pot:
And next to a 1/72 scale F4 Phantom:
After posting the two pictures in the last post I realised that the matt varnish on the decals was causing a reflection, so I re-painted over the area as I like the effect of the bare paint. Seems to look more realistic on this:
I left the engine access door removable:
to reveal the engine detail, most of which I had to scratch build.
If time permits I intend to do a little maintenance type diorama, does anyone (Jssel) know how the access door was hinged?

Re: Chipsssss cobra
The Cobra (G model) engine access panels were hinged in the front and swung open clamshell style. They could also be removed completely so your depiction is not wrong by any means. The panel below that was hinged on the bottom and dropped down to provide a bench for the "grease grunts." That by the way is not an official title for maint. persons.
Another nice touch that you did in which I forgot to point out is the tactical markings like on the winglets. Great for ID'ing units from above looking down. Many modelers will miss that detail because normal photos don't show them. One weird thing I saw regarded the white bands on the rotorblades. Normally they would have a bit of a strobe effect looking down on them. I saw one that only had one blade painted. Talk about feeling like a bobble-head
