F-100D 'Battle damaged' FINISHED

Post by kruaxi »

A very old kit, an IMC (ex HAWK) from the sixties. I decide to make it with 'nam camo.

Better don't test how correct it is... I believe there is a lot of fantasy in this sprue...

Wow ! Seems come out from a very hard battle !

The real hard battle will be to build it decently.

Image
Please, read instructions... Currently one of the most important ground support aircraft in South Vietnam...

Engraved some panels and sanded rivets. Plastic is soft and thin. Too much !
Image

Cockpit is in a single piece: pilot (a giant for 1:72, good for 1:60), seat and something like an instruments panel.
Cut everything. Start to scratchbuild all
Image

Camo and decals are 'suspect' too... but probably i will use them the same

I have the Skyraider from the same series...doesn't compare well next to other Skyraiders.

I love the concept of these kits...though they definitely pander to the child within.
I've seen pictures of damaged aircraft that have successfully returned home, but I wonder on the degree of damage these kits have.

Nice work Kruaxi. That plastic is almost translucent. I've been trying to figure out how the aircraft would have suffered such damage in flight. Just can't see it. Looks more like something that would happen on the ground...

Gentle Dirk, this kit is really a nightmare, believe me !
Wings are wrong, undercarriages are fictional, camo and decals are suspect, shape is wrong too... and damages are improbable (a Sam's near explosion ?).
I build it how to build a X-Wing.
...a lot of funny, to be honest...
