Curses!! I swore I'd never buy another Mach2 kit, but that Seabee has got me by the throat now!

And if you guys have not built a kit from Merlin Models, well this is kinda what it is like.

Here is the Seabee in its current state. The assembly instructions or maybe the assembly suggestions is a better way to describe the documentation included in the kit mention to cut 4mm off the bottom of the control panel unit. I did this but even with that I still needed to trim it here and there to get to fit along with a generous helping of filler.

Merlin Models? Ho ho. :ha:

Merlin were a lesser product of the times and, if I recall, didn't charge too high a price for the product. Mach 2, however...

Thing is, there are glimpses of niceness and, if nothing else, it's good to give the basic modelling muscles a bit of a workout.

Keep going, Tommy.

Bruce

Yes, I like punishment, er challenges and this one needs its share of putty. Once the Rhubarb GB is done, I'll be back on this in force.

I am back in the ring with the Seabee and Criquet.

Image

(above) I have finished the fuselage of the Seabee and painted the interior Tamiya XF-52 Light Earth (my choice), and the seats are painted Tamiya XF-10 Red Brown (color coordinated with the interior - again my choice). I have also completed the wing and the engine pod. Next I'll attach the wing to the fuselage/hull. I'll wait till that is done before I add the interior details.

Image

(above) I installed the little structural piece inside the canopy with epoxy - that worked well. Now the canopy is ready to be installed on the fuselage as soon as the fuselage is done. The fuselage needs some filler on the joint. The wheels and propellor are painted and done.

Here is the current status of the two models:

The Seabee is ready for the canopy to be installed and then masked. I still need to work on the landing gear parts, but they won't be installed till after I finish painting.

The Criquet is ready for its canopy to be installed as well. Once the canopy is in place, then I can install the wings and struts.

Both are looking good. I had a good scour of The Stash recently. Seems I already have a SMER Storch, an Airfix one and the Academy...tho' I can't remember when I bought the latter and am pleased I didn't succumb to that sale I mentioned, earlier in the Thread.
