Jim, Stefano,

Thanks.

A wide, stiff brush, thinned Xtracrylix, and patience accomplish most things . . .

Some progress continues to be made . . .

Paintwork cleaned up, underwing tanks painted aluminium, spinner backplates manufactured and installed, props partially painted, exhausts painted gunmetal, 'Little light' lenses installed in the landing light recesses and glazed with Klear, and decalling begun (some cracking and silvering in evidence).

Need to paint the fuselage under the serial numbers dark green to port and MSG to starboard then put on the s/ns, paint engine panels Aluminium, dry brush brick red on the exhausts, and install the canopy. If I get that lot done tonight, I'll add some pics.

Martin R

Thanks . . . Hey! Hang on! Does that mean in incomprehensible and flowery English?

No, silly! :ha: 'Little Lights' lenses from 'Little Cars'. They do a range of coloured reflective lenses, which are ideal for representing landing lights. Google 'Little Cars' and you should find them.

Photobucket having let me upload last night's pictures, here they are:

You can just see the coloured patches on the rear fuse where the previous colour scheme (MSG / DG) was not updated (the serials will go here). The engine access panels will also get a coat of MSG, as these were not updated. I need to add some random patches of other dark greys to get a well-used appearance.

Hmmm . . . how garish are the squadron codes? Canopy, props and exhausts white glued into place.

Image

Need some grimy washes down here methinks . . . Can you see the lenses in the landing lights?

Image

Tonight I'll make a start on the rocket rails and deflectors, and put some EDSG to cover the white glue around the canopy. Also will paint some clear decal film in advance of canopy frame lining.

Thanks for your comments, Jim, Dirk; much appreciated. Unfortunately, it took me a while to access t'internet, coz my connection's gone all flakey, hence the slow response.

Put serial number decals on, paint the engine access panels MSG, and start work on the rocket rails and deflector structure. As I'm not up to changing the Airfix 60lb rocket heads into 30lb ones and thin down the fins, it's going to be an unloaded config.

I was going to do some more tonight but it was a long day at the office . . .

Carlsberg beer cans. Probably the best material from which to scratchbuild Mossie undercarriage doors in the world . . .
