I'm rather ashamed of myself Tom. I just now caught on to this build. What fantastic work you're doing. I live the intake screens.

A great build so far and a credit to your skill and patience (I have past experience of this kit). Very impressive

Ta very much, but there isn't that much skill in this house, just a lot of bodging and hoping no-one notices the c**k upsDazzled wrote:a credit to your skill and patience
Dirk and James, thankyou for the support
Now there has been a considerable amount of elbow grease applied these last two days but very little progress to show , I may need to lay in extra supplies of Squadron white though.......:
I have a feeling all the gaps on the outer nacelle's are my own doing, probably caused by deviating from Revell / Matchbox's instructions, but still nil desperandum.
I have at least made a start on the dangly bits, anything to give my elbows a rest :
And this is how she looks this evening:
I'm hoping the weather improves this weekend so I can start spraying the white onto her frame.
Regards
Tom

Re: Tom's Mid-Ocean Wanderer
Looking good Tom. Are you going to spray it in one piece or spray the fuselage and wings separate? I am doing the latter on mine. Oh, and I reckon the nacelles are just badly designed/molded as mine are the same.

Re: Tom's Mid-Ocean Wanderer
When I built mine I sprayed them separately. It made things much easier with regard to actually holding on to the parts and they went together seamlessly afterwards. I suppose it's a natural follow-on to having the joint buried in the fuselage side.

Re: Tom's Mid-Ocean Wanderer
That is looking great Tom i have sprayed the white on mine with the wings and tailplanes seperate and they will stay off till the end.It makes it way easier to mask and decal plus the white on the fuselage sides will need a matt varnish so more ruddy masking

Shocking!! For your penance, you should start on a Four or more engined build TODAY....Dirkpitt289 wrote:I'm rather ashamed of myself Tom. I just now caught on to this build. What fantastic work you're doing. I live the intake screens.

Anyways, just a one shot wonder this afternoon to show you as far as I have gotten with spraying the Halifax:
as you can see I've gone for the spray as one piece option. The photo also shows where I've had to do more work to the top seams behind the cockpit and mid-upper turret. Things are kind of on hold at the moment 'cos the weather is too damp for spraying and I need to mist at least two more coats of white to get a consistent coverage . Wheels and props are ready as is the U/C, so I only have masking transparencies left to do before I have to hurry up and wait

Looking very good Tom. The intake mesh is an excellent bit of improvement work. Best of luck with the white, I'm airbrushing but might try a rattle can, particularly as my LMS has run out of Tamiya white

Re: Tom's Mid-Ocean Wanderer
Thanks for the positive vibes guys
More white sprayed and I've achieved the depth of colour ( or shade, depending on how you percieve it ) that I'm after.
But the big news is.................
She's up on her legs :
both inner nacelles fitted (badly ) and main U/C in place and I am VERY happy to report that she is sitting level and square, after all the alignment hassles I had in the beginning I really wasn't looking forward to this moment of truth but phew!
Regards

Very good work, there may be some tough spots but your construction is getting by them nicely.
