Taking this as a timely reminder I decided to paint the adapted areas to check for flaws. Not toooo bad, just a couple of minor dead spots to fill. LMS has let me down for micro crystal kleer, but I should be able to pick some up from The South Cheshire Militaire model show in Crewe on Sunday and then she is ready for spraying.

This is how she stands at the moment:

I have added a shroud around the top turret, kindly donated by David (Lancfan). Many thanks.

Progress has slowed up of late. I have got the first coat of primer on which showed up a couple of areas that needed attention. These have been dealt with and I hope to get the first coat of white on today.

I hate white paint. It shows up even the slightest blemish.

After priming, then re-filling, sanding, and priming again I decided to give it the first coat of white. Every minor mark/scratch/raised area became screamingly obvious. At this point I lost the will to model.

Now after a few days off sulking, and giving myself a good KUTA, I have attacked it with a vengeance.

To save my sanity I have decided to use this as a lesson in not biting off more than I can chew in regards to modifying a model. It started off as fun but rapidly declined into being a nightmare.

So, two coats of white paint have made it look OK from a distance. (About 10 foot :ha: )

I will continue at it, and hopefully make an acceptable model of it to sit at the back of my display cabinet. I may do another to replace it in the future.

White and silver were invented by the Devil to plague modellers the world over. I can sympathise here as I am facing a world of white with my build and I know what you mean by the blemishes showing - aaaarrrgh!!

Keep at it Chip, she is looking good from where I'm sitting.

Ahh I know what you mean Chip, the work can be a bit much some times, the head of steam can drop off quickly. But she is looking fine from here.

Always could do Black/Dark Earth and Dark green.....

Great looking build, have to agree on white paint; my last build and the current one are mostly white and it is really painful seeing all the blemishes that have to be removed

Thanks for the support over the white paint guys, I thought I was being a bit of a wuss. :ha:

I had a small amount of grey for the top left over from a previous build and decided that it would be sufficient for this. Wrong  Even after thinning it down to the limit it just would not stretch out enough

One trip to the LMS later and....

Something other than white. Hurrar. I will be quite busy on non modelling tasks over the weekend, but hope to get the green on when I get chance.

Thanks Tom. It will be interesting to see how closely these three resemble each other at the end.
I had trouble sleeping due to thinking about this blinking build, and the anticipation of getting near to the finish, so I was up at 5 to put the first coat of green on. I will add another coat later and hope to get some pictures up when time permits. (Starting to be fun again :-D )
