Saxon's Hasegawa Mig 25 Foxbat (1/72 scale)
Saxon's Hasegawa Mig 25 Foxbat (1/72 scale)
Will be starting possibly August 9th. Will be built in what has become my usual way of painting the canopy black, which tends to present just as many problems as it fixes! But I like the clean look of the finished product.
I'm still deciding on decals as well either the Soviet ones the kit comes with or Ukrainain ones from Hi Decal, colour scheme remains the same, Neutral Gray (according to Hasegawa Instructions).

I have a connection with this kit as it was among the first I ever built as a kid, I think it may have been the 3rd actually.

What time on the 9th? Want to be able to catch it from the start.
Cheers,

There's always room for improvement...... and I got plenty of space to fill

Red stars. Mig's and Su's don't look 'right' with anything else on the wings!
I'm a mostly full-time modeller put a part-time poster....
Re: Saxon's Hasegawa Mig 25 Foxbat (1/72 scale)
As soon as I wake up Irish more or less! I will try and give warnings closer to the time although my wife is ill now so I might have to change the date we will see how I go.
Ian - Yes Red Stars appeals more because the aircraft would have had more of an operational history than one serving with the Ukrainian Air Force (I mean operational history with the air force itself not the airframe).

Best of luck with this , the multi-part fuselage gave me enough trouble during a normal build let alone a blitz.

I'll be checking in at daybreak on this side of the world. Good luck.

Darn, tobad its not today. My nanny called out and I have to stay home with the kids. This would have been fun to watch from beginning to end.

Ok I have started, sorry not to give more advanced notice but this is my last day off and couldn't get online yesterday. So anyway here goes..
Started 07:54 hours, I have built this kit twice before with wheels down, decided this time to build in flight for something different.
08:35 hours, Main Fuselage built, missiles painted.
I'm also making Borscht!

You're off to a good start there.
I'm not a fan of beetroot myself but enjoy the Borscht.

Ok
09:35 hours More work on missiles
09:53 hours Burnt Iron parts painted.
Also, although no pics, I added the landing gear doors and as you can see I also added the Air Intakes
I'm really happy with my joins and won't be adding putty, I try my best not to add putty as I hate the mess and the sanding, instead I sand the joins with wet light grade sandpaper it pretty much makes any seams invisible.
I also use white glue to fill bigger gaps for the same reason, me and putty not such good friends!

Ok 10:54hours, Painted the various wings and fins on the sprue due to the burnt iron parts around the fuselage, also painted the nose cone amd pylons.
11:01 hours painted Fuselage or atleast 3/4 of it, and wings, will attach wings when paint dries and paint last 1/4 of fuselage. I usually build with wings down which makes it somewhat easier to place the wet model! Sorry about crappy photo a little blurry and the fuselage blocks the :01 on the clock.
Not going to worry about a pic, also sealed the decals and painted the canopy.

Outstanding the first Blitz is underway. Happy happy joy joy.
Not to be a nudge but all the photos are a bit on the blurry side which makes it kinda difficult to follow. This must be a fast build.

I tried using my digital camera but all my AA batteries are flat so I had to use my phone! Not great pics I know, but I will try and take some better ones when I get some batteries shortly.
