Jssel's Saladin Mk.2
Jssel's Saladin Mk.2
My Blitz will commence on 8-16-11 (Tuesday) morning. I am building the Airfix Saladin Mk.2 Armoured Car kit number A02325.
Studying the pictures on Google images, looking over the kit, a whisper from behind my shoulder from Brews, I think I can do this. Gee, the parts are tiny.
Pictures if the box art and innards will be up later today.

It's Tuesday morning. Where are you Jeff?
Oh. In bed. It's still dark o'clock in Michigan, isn't it?
Well I think you should have made an effort and started early. Just for me!

It's not Tuesday at all, is it? It's Monday. That'll teach me to have a holiday when the kids are off.....

Dang Ian, almost sent me into cardiac arrest there. Will be setting up the clock and mascots tonight for a 0700EDT start. I think that is noonish UTC/GMT.

Here is the "new" re-release box art.
Here are the innards.
Like I said earlier, it doesn't appear to be a bad kit. Looks rather nice and clean really.
I have got today to decide on green or dark yellow for the color.

Going to watch this one closely as this was the model that got me in to the hobby, should be interesting to see what you can do with it in 24 hours

Go Jeff! Go Jeff!
Love the shark. Does it have a name? And do you always feed it left-over sprue?
And I love the retro clock. 1980's vintage?

With about one hour in, here is an update.
Overview
Now this is something I normally would not do in a Blitzbau. But the sides of the turret were so blank as it is.
Holes drilled with a micro bit and small pieces of fine wire inserted. I hope, when painted it will have the desired effect.
@Ian. The shark is Bruce from the movie finding Nemo. For some reason, I love that movie. And the clock, well, that is a late 70's Heathkit. Build it myself along with most of my Amateur Radio station. My license is valid the station is packed away. After 31 years of talking on the radio as an emergency dispatcher, the thrill of Ham radio kind of waned.

Re: Jssel's Saladin Mk.2
Sorry Jeff. If I'd read your post properly I would have seen Bruce's name. D'oh! Great work on the clock. I wish I had some of those electronics type skills.
Good idea with the scratched handles. Quick and easy and will make a big difference to the finished model!
First hours progress looks good!

Yikes - he's armed with a stapler and he's not afraid to use it!

Hour two.
Overview
More work done on the turret. Hatches installed, smoke grenade racks on and the antennas in place. I will clip off the existing antennas and replace with thin wire. I just needed the bases. The oversized holes will get a touch of PVA glue to fill in the offending space.
Work commenced on the chassis. While the glue was settingup I layed it on the mat right side up to make sure everything touched at the same time. I think this a problem to deal with on wheeled vehicles. A little filling was needed to blend everything in.
Sorry for the quality of the pictures. My 'ol Kodak as a real filtering issue against that green cutting mat.
Off to prepare a strong cuppa and a snack.

Re: Jssel's Saladin Mk.2
That turret is looking real sweet. Always had a soft spot for the Saladin.

Nice work so far. I like the addition of the wire to the turret
