OT's Entente cordiale Spitfire
Despite my best efforts I have to announce that the Blitzbau House is a no go this time round. Sadly SWAMBO's working hours mean I can't get away for any length of time.
So I will be doing a solo Blitz of a 1/72 Heller Spitfire Mk.16 which will hopefully end up looking something like this:
Strangely enough I don't recall building a French Spitfire before so there is a gap in my collection that needs filling.
I don't think a 24 build is a possibility so I will break it down into two 12 hour sessions comencing at 9am on the 18th. That is this comming Thursday. I hope you can join me as your encouragements (is that even a word?) are always welcome.

Re: OT's Entente cordiale Spitfire
Well Grandad has just picked the kids up for the day & SWAMBO is on her way to work so it looks like this gig can go ahead. Here is the usual setup shot:
I have not made one of these for a while but it looks do-able. Only 32 pieces but I recall a few fit issues so I may spend time sanding and filling just for a change. Also the radiators don't look right so I may rectify that depending on time. I will just have to see how far I get today. If I get it assembled & primed in this first 12 hours I will be chuffed. I also have a few errands to run today so I may dip in & out.
I have no idea how accurate the colour scheme is as I can't find any pictorial evidence for it but it looks cool. I will have to steal decals from various sets but I should get a close representation. Hopefully that will be something to worry about in the second 12 hour session.
I will be startying in a few minutes once I get some clothes on.

Re: OT's Entente cordiale Spitfire
Time for a piccy:
As you can see I have painted the interior green, picked out the few details in black & drybrushed a little silver over the top to highlight the details. I then used a cocktail stick to pick out some other details. The canopy is dry so I will mask it off before lunch.
Next up assemble the office & add seat harness.

And here we go off on another exciting blitz.
Of course we could have done without the information that you were setting up and taking photos in the nude.Old_Tonto wrote: I will be startying in a few minutes once I get some clothes on.

Come on now. We all know real modelers build in their underwear.
Great start. Good luck.

Re: OT's Entente cordiale Spitfire
Crikey, lunch time already!
I had a few fit issues getting the cockpit tub closed up but all seems to be together now. I added a harness & head rest to the bucket seat as it all lookied a little bare & you might, just might, be able to make something out through the bubble canopy. Enough to fool the eye anyway.
I will try to get a picture of the inards before I put the canopy on. I always forget something on these Blitzaus.
Oh yes, here is the image:
I got the wings together but there was an alarming amount of flash on the upper leading edge so they will need a lot of attention.
Unfortunately no curry like we have at the Blitzbau House so it's off to the chippy now.
Actually I was in the buff but wearing my dressing gown.jssel wrote:Come on now. We all know real modelers build in their underwear.

WOW, looks like you'll be done before night fall. My son was just looking over my shoulder and spotted the Ben 10 clock. He loves Ben 10. This is a blitz for everyone. Model building for me Ben 10 for the boy. Very entertaining so far.

Have to keep your strength up O-T. Blitzing is demanding.

Re: OT's Entente cordiale Spitfire
Here you go Dirk, a better view of the clock.
Plenty of filler is needed even though I aligned the halves as best I could. Bum - this will slow me down.
Dry fitting the wings reveals a big gap.
