I don't build many helicopters but this one has been sitting in the stash for 20 years so I thought it was time it came out to play. :)

I built an Airfix Hind back in the 1980s but this one seems more detailed. I'm not sure how accurate it is but as long as it looks like a Hind that's all that matters to me.

Have to love that it has Nicaurguan markings.

Have you decided on a scheme yet?

I quite like the look of this. It looks very aggressive, easy to imagine it striking fear into anyone on the potential receiving end when they heard this beast approach!

To quote the Taliban -
"We don't fear the Russians but we do fear their helicopters."
I love the Hind. I also built the Airfix kit back in the 80's. I really must get another....

I was planning on finishing it in Iraqi markings but I might go for the Nicaraguan option.

I have made a start on the interior, I'll be painting it before I put the seats in.

The wings have been assembled too.

Sandanista would be something really different, Tim.

As there's less than two weeks to go I thought it was about time I got back to this one. I've painted the interior and added the decals. I've also added a couple of crew.

I should be able to close up the fuselage tomorrow.

I've decided I will be using the Sandanista markings.

I've made some major progress today and the fuselage has been closed up and the intakes added. The instrument panel was a bit fiddly but I got it to stay in place eventually.

With 10 days to go I'm still hoping to get this and the Cobra finished on time.

Did a bit more today. The wings have been fitted and I've assembled the main rotor.

Image

It needs a bit of filler in places so I'll get to that over the weekend.

That's going to look impressive when it's complete. That rotor is a challenge to shelf space.
