Couldn't resist a peak in the box, so I will let you all see the bits as well:
Doesn't look too daunting at the moment, nice crisp detail, minimum flash and crisp decals. Just the camo that could cause problems.

That is one funky camo scheme. That's the reason I stay away from Sweedish subjects.

Re: Molly_new's Aifix Boeing V-107
Crikey, a weeks gone already
Update time.
The build has thrown up a couple of unusual features that I have not seen before;
The pilots had rods on their backs (make up your own jokes here ) and a slot in the seat to aid (?) assembly. I decided to cut off the rods, fill in the seat backs and assemble as normal.
And the console details were printed on the plan and had to be photocopied and then cut out to be glued to the console.
The fuselage has started to take shape with doors and flotation pods fitted and interior painted:
Next up is to fit the windows, and join together the two halves, more to come soon (I hope )

Re: Molly_new's Aifix Boeing V-107
On Tuesday I noticed (and confirmed with the first photo on here) that the rear ramp door was missing.
I rang Airfix/Hornby to enquire about a replacement part, as I have had success through this route before. I was told that I would have to fill in the "contact us" form on their web page with all the relevant details. I did this and prepared myself for a lengthy wait, as I had heard that this can take up to 28 days (and more) for the items to arrive.
On Wednesday I got an automated e-mail from Airfix acknowledging my request.
Today, Thursday, the part turned up.
Well done Airfix for their prompt action. Is this a record?

Re: Molly_new's Aifix Boeing V-107
With all parts now present and correct I decided to put her together:
Which revealed just how bad a fit it was. A bit of filling and sanding to do this weekend I fear:
The new ramp door looks decidedly dodgy, but it's nice to have one

Good progress on this, Chip. Looks like work ahead on that ramp.

That ramp does look bad. Could you pop it out again, glue some small strips to the interior to give ledges to the doorframe and give the ramp an even edge to sit against?

The rear door does look iffy fit wise. Hope you don't have too much trouble sorting it out.

Doh, wish I had thought of that. It has now been filled, sanded and leveled out. Not too bad looking, hope to get a coat of primer on tonight to see how bad/good it looks.WheresMyMojo wrote:Could you pop it out again, glue some small strips to the interior to give ledges to the doorframe and give the ramp an even edge to sit against?

Re: Molly_new's Aifix Boeing V-107
That is going to look so good in that scheme. I have the MPC re-pop of that kit but didn't do it as the guy I obtained it from sanded off all the rivit detail. I have no problem with that but that makes it a started kit.
