I still can't promise a completion, but the answer's a definite "yes, please!".

You have done a grand job. It will look a whole lot better for a coat of primer.

Chaps,

Many thanks for your encouraging words. They are appreciated, I assure you.

I haven't forgotten about this build, but rebuilding the ones my son decided to disassemble - and decorating the dining room - have taken precedence this week.

I hope to get back to it at the weekend and get it somewhat closer towards finishing in the extra time that I've been given.

regards,

Martin

Boston Sitrep:

OK, I filled around the engine nacelles last night. Tonight, I sanded them down, masked the various openings with sponge and shot a fairly heavy layer of Humbrol 1 rattlecan primer at all surfaces.

Result? Not worth a picture but there's going to be a lot of refilling and resanding to do. Is it better or worse than I was expecting? Difficult to say, really; let's put it like this: I'm not surprised at the outcome given what I've been doing to it!

So, I'll take the thing into work tomorrow and put some more filler on the obvious places during lunch, then come home and get medieval on it's ass (in a sanding sense, obviously!).

After that, I 'just' need to rescribe the control surface hinge lines and then - hopefully - start painting. I doubt I'll get it finished, but it'd be nice to see the decals on at least.

Thanks for your continuing interest!

regards,

Martin

Moo-hassive sanding session later, I have started drawing control surface hinge lines on the surface and plan to scribe tonight. Depending on how that goes, I may be able to start painting. Wish me luck!

Thanks Bruce. Well I do have the upper flap and aileron control surface lines scribed. This was reasonably straightforward apart from the Dymo tape taking off the Milliput beneath it when I removed it! Oh well, more filling and sanding required.

I'm thinking maybe that pencil line could simulate the hinge lines on the lower surfaces . . . so just the upper elevator hinge lines to do.

Martin

Jim,

Yes, I am a big fan of Mr Buttrick's work! I loved his build of the Matchbox and FROG Mosquitos.

Nothing worth showing at the moment, Bruce, and that's the truth! Rest assured, when picture-worthy progress is made, you'll see it here first.

I took some pics last night, but PB not playing.

Anyway, ~15 coats (yep, that's not a misprint) of Gunze Sangyo pale blue on the underside (I overthinned it rather) and that's about finished.

A couple of heavily thinned coats of Humbrol 26 applied on top as well (although I dropped it while so doing, so the top fuse seam has needed to be re-cemented and filled this morning) which has put a cramp on the painting).

I hope to finish the Humbrol 26 this evening, and I will then put a coat of Klear on it and try to start the foliage green (Gunze Sangyo RLM71 or so the guy in the Victorian Hobby Centre insisted was a match to F.G. back in 2005).

This model is being rushed - which is a sure way for me to ruin a model - but I'll try to get as far as I can before the end of the weekend, given the support you all have shown.

Who knows, if PB works again, I may even get as far as posting pics of the result . . .
