Disaster. This one just nearly hit the wall.

The canopy fogged big style, don't know why as I did everything as normal.

I tried Montex masks rather than tamiya tape but that should not make any difference.

I am stepping away from the model whilst I ponder the situation. Should I try to fit a replacement canopy (without damaging the paint work!) or just bit the bullet and paint the glazing black?

I completely understand the desire to toss this one against the wall (being a Spitfire and all :ha: ) but you've already put a lot of effort into it and it would be a shame. It wouldn't be difficult or even that expensive to get a replacement vac canopy. I say put it aside for now and order a new canopy.

Look at me trying to save a Spitfire...  :ha: :ha:

I always new you would in the end. :-D

I have decided to paint it black for now & see how it looks. I can pick up a new canopy at SMW tomorrow.

Stuff it. Painted now & doesn't look too bad. I have had enough of it by now, like it says 'Down With Everything'.

OT,

Good finish. It looks really nice with the matt varnish on.

Nice job, I'm a big fan of the painted over canopy look anyway.

Your build made me look at mine from about 10 years ago and I noticed that my references (thanks Aussie Decals!) were also incorrect showing a all foilage green upper.
