To help launch this thread (pun intended) here's some pictures of my Hasegawa 1/450th scale IJN Akagi, portrayed at the moment of launching the attack on Pearl Harbour. Despite it's age, it's quite a nice kit. It's just a shame about the unusual scale.

The first aircraft takes off. handrails are etched brass from WEM.

A view along the deck. Nets and supporting frames were scratchbuilt.

The rest of the air wing waiting to take off. Rigging around the island was made from steel wire and flags giving the code to attack were added.

Image

A couple of views of the air wing showing their parking arrangement.

A final view showing Captain Fuchida's "Kate" among the aircraft ready to launch.
