Re: Dirk's Nakajima B5N2 - 'Kate'
Well the hassle and bustle of the Thanksgiving weekend and the girlfriends birthday have subsided so I was able to do a little work on the Kate.
Masking off the tail for the red paint.
I was planning on and probably should have sprayed a cote of white first but alas I admit I was to freakin lazy
After a few days to let the paint fully cure I'll reverse the mask and get ready to do the green top color.

Re: Dirk's Nakajima B5N2 - 'Kate'
I was really worryed at first as it was looking rather purple-ish, but after a second cote and viewing it in the morning light I'm OK with it. I think....

Re: Dirk's Nakajima B5N2 - 'Kate'
Two nights ago I painted on the green top cote but as of last night it was still a little tacky. Hopefully tonight I can do the black nose and the blue/ silver of the wheel wells. Time permitting that is. Tonight we start decorating the house for Christmas.

When everything is dry I'll give it a good rubdown.

Re: Dirk's Nakajima B5N2 - 'Kate'
Due to time constraints I think I'm going to call this one finished. All I really have to do is the horizontal framework on the canopy and then seal cote and dull cote. Like I said due to the time I'm going to try to do the frames tonight and then glamour shots. the seal and flat cotes can wait. Updated photos tonight.

Home stretch, decals and canopy frame
The large under wing decals settled down nicely around this protrusion on the wings but was easily repaired.
Prop mounted
Canopy framework
Glamour shots to follow in the gallery

Re: Dirk's Nakajima B5N2 - 'Kate'
Actually my prob had to be modified to fit on the shaft. I guess I went one to big on the drill bit and the prop ended up being wobbly like you said yours was. I just glued it in place. I'm beyond the stage of flying my models through the air like they were flying so there was no need for a spinning prop

Nice job Dirk. Will you be slinging a torpedo under it?

One terrific looking Kate. Well done.
