Luft'46 Sign-Up and Chat

Now that Telford is out of the way I need a quick easy build and something that is FUN!!
I have something in mind that I'd love to do in Luftwaffe colours but the obviously fictitious story line would have to involve a time travel element - the kit being a 1/48th F-117 Shadowhawk - would you let me know if this be permissible in this group build please?

I was going to defer to you Kruaxi but I tend to agree. IMHO (for what its worth) the build was opened up to include aircraft all the way up to 1953 to allow more choices for everyone to choose from. I'm not so sure a What-if is within that realm. Again I'll let Kruaxi have the final word on this one. I think we are already "twisting" this one as it is.

That said I would still love to see you build an F-117 in that scheme. It's just not right for this particular build.

Fair enough guys, no worries. The F-117 will get built anyway so I'll stick it somewhere else on here. I'll have another think because I do like the Luft '46 concept (I nearly brought a book on the subject at Telford) and have recently seen a couple of good programs about it on the Discovery channel. I'll have to have a look in the stash and see what I have.

I know I'm not (currently) taking part in this build, but were there definitive decisions on whether Allied types were allowed, and further whether the Far East theatre of operations was in scope?

OK, Bruce, thanks for that.

Exploring the scenario then, the War hasn't finished in 1945 and some exotic Lufty types have made it into service. What would the Allies do in response? In reality, a number of new aircraft - or later variants of in-service aircraft - were on the verge of entering service when the War had ended - like the Hornet / Sea Hornet, Seafire XV and later, Spitfire XXI, Spiteful / Seafang, Fury and Sea Fury, F4U-4 Corsair, Tempest II & VI, P-82, P-80, Vampire, Meteor and so on. To my way of thinking, these would then enter the front line on the Allied side.

So, as most of these aircraft / variants did actually enter service post-war then the "What If" element of a build of one of these aircraft would be the colour scheme and scenario of their service.

So, if I get off my butt with the Boston (admittedly not likely), I fancy doing a Matchbox Tempest / F4U-4 in a wartime colour scheme. How would this be with everybody?

Now, what kind of invasion stripes would my FAA F4U-4 have worn during the invasion of Norway, April '46? And would it have had the EDSG / Sky scheme or TSS? The best bit: I can't be wrong!!! I'm enjoying thinking about this stuff, at least.
