Re: Martin's Tiger Force Tempest
Thanks, all
The cc is a white metal item - I think from an old Ventura Spitfire.

Martin

Hi folks,
I made a blind flying panel for the IP:
And some straps for the pilot's seat:
And this is the current state of play:
I don't know how much more I'll be able to do over the weekend (decorating calls) but we'll see.

Re: Martin's Tiger Force Tempest
Hi all,
Progress continued over the weekend on the TII, but it's not particularly photogenic.
Prop has been painted and assembled and wheels have had a coat of silver.
I don't know if it comes across when comparing this photo to the last, but I have attempted to make the nose of the cowling less 'bulbous', by which I mean that the curve between the cowl intake and the maximum diameter of the cowling was quite convex, which gave it a bulky, unstreamlined look. It is better now - to my eye at least.
I scribed a circle from plastic card to form a front to the intake to hide the vertical seam between the cowling halves. Not much of this would have been seen, but it would have bugged me.
A first smear of filler has been added to the joint lines. The worst join is that on the underside between the wings and fuselage, with the wings sitting slightly proud of the fuselage on the centre line. I'll see what I can do to lose that with sanding.
I hope to get a coat of primer on later this week - and then it's on to the painting. I'm looking forward to that . . .
regards,
Martin

So:
Fill, sand, prime, sand, fill, sand and . . .
. . . ready for the first coat of ?
It would have got it's first coat this evening if it hadn't been hissing down outside. Hopefully tomorrow. Still, not bad progress for me in a week.

Martin

Coming along nicely. I'm constantly amazed how much MB managed to cram onto their standard sized spruces including giving you a choice of two noses.

Re: Martin's Tiger Force Tempest
I know what you mean. Spares include a nice Sabre undernose radiator matrix and exhaust stubs for a 'Classic' Typhoon build I'm thinking about in future. I do like Matchbox's approach: different diameter props between variants? Provide the longer one and just get the modeller to trim 2.5mm off each blade!JamesPerrin wrote:Coming along nicely. This has been a fun build so far!

And here's the latest progress on the Tiger Force Tempest. Humbrol polished Aluminium spray has been used to simulate High Speed Silver, but hang on: azure blue undersides? What's going on? Be sure to catch the next installment . . .

A glossy white for underside... why not ?

Although I have done a bit of research (well actually asked on BM what they thought a TF Tempest would have looked like), your comment above explains the main motivation for the chosen colour scheme!
Some more to come . . .

Not this time - but I would also like to do a Tiger Force Lancaster with white uppers and black underside!
