1/72 HobbyBoss Mig 15 UTI in Albanian markings
Another Mig 15 from HobbyBoss. This one is a bit dirtier than the Polish one i recently did as Albanians spent more time watching Mr Grimsdale than washing their Migs
For the first time I had a HB kit that didn't fit so had to do some remedial work on the rear of the fuselage on the port side to get the top and bottom half to marry up.
The decals were from Blue Rider and were a bit thick and mucky on release from the backing paper but cleaned up well and a couple of coats of Microsol soon had them behaving themselves. Again Mr Grimsdale had been fought back
I used Vallejo Model Air for the aluminium finish and the Sir T method of panel line marking was employed.

Very nice indeed!
Best wishes

Lovely Toby. They look so different with the bigger canopy, changes the whole balance of the plane.
Excellent finish mate,

Much better than my KP I've build some years ago.
Sometimes the talent consists exactly in that: try five dozen times when others stop at three dozen...! (F.Labelle)
I think that modeling is a subtle mix of zen philosophy and absolute crazyness - but in my case I would not dare to specify the respective percentage of each......

Ugly plane, but a lovely model I think I have that Blue Rider sheet somewhere in my stash. I did have to Google 'Mr Grimsdale' to find out what you were talking about though...

That's a great looking build Toby. I love those Albanian markings.
Norman Wisdom was something of a cult hero in Albania IIRC. I think his were the only western films allowed under the Marxist regime. His characters were seen as the little man (worker) getting one over on the bosses. I do miss the cold war!

Thanks all. Tbh I did prefer the bis to the UTI if only on aesthetic grounds rather than the build problems I got with the latter.
