Airfix 1/144 Vickers Vanguard

Post by Migrant »

The old 1965 kit in a new box with new decals. Not bad for its vintage really, the moulds have either aged very well or they've been cleaned up. Kit was re-scribed and clear resin used for the fuselage windows. Full build article in the current AMW.

Another exemplary build Mike. Like a lot of turboprops it has bags of character compared to modern airliners and the BEA markings are great too.

Awesome build Mike. What's your method for the convincing metallic finish on the engines?

Your builds are always inspirational and make me want to go out and build things that are out of my comfort zone.

Cheers for sharing.

Just been reading the article in AMW. Great work Mike, nice one.

All the best.

Thanks Dazzled, it's Alclad Polished Aluminum sprayed over gloss black, then a few panels darkened and/or flattened.

Great model, it brings back good memories. I flew on the real aircraft to Ringway from London in 1964. Then I got my dad to make me the kit. Feels like another addition to the stash.

That is just absolutely...........honestly words just fail me. If I could get a finish even a quarter as good as yours Mike then I'd be a happy man
