Revell Kawasaki Ki-61 Hein 1/32

Post by OllieSmith »

Hi all, New project on the go!!!

This is a kit I've had in the stash for a long long time and it was old when I was given it!!! The decals were all shot so had to get some replacements from hannants, everything else seemed to be ok and present so got started :)

Progress so far-

I'd not be looking too comfortable or confident if I was in an aeroplane without my hands on the controls.

Wings all on, terrible fit and big gaps that needed filling where they join the fuselage!!! Looks okish as could be considering.... Getting the undercarriage ready for assembly, once that's all done, will get started on the prop!!

Nicely done Ollie and some great progress on this big old Tony. The pilot's facial expression leads me to believe that he might need to speed up his digestive transit!

Cheers Shaun :) bit of progress this weekend, under carriage and radiator housing all painted and assembled, prop and spinners all painted, and the green base colour sprayed, next job will be the painstaking task of masking the green off for the silver coat!!! Gunna take some time me thinks!!!

Lovely neat work Ollie. What's the paint scheme going to be? A number of these aircraft were NMF and received a rough overspray of green as the box art or is this in a scheme of solid green uppers over NMF undersides?

Cheers again Shaun :) it's going to be as on the box art, silver undersides, silver upper with green patches all over- I'm hoping my masking idea works!!!!

Excellent, that has worked very well Ollie and I reckon quite a bit less stress than free hand spraying that little lot!
