Airfix 1/72 Mitsubishi Ki-46 Dinah number 2....

Post by bluesteel »

You don't see an Airfix Mitsubishi Ki-26 Dinah for ages then two come along all at once!

Mine's not as good as PTB11's as it's brush painted and I had a devil of a job getting an even coat
on white primer with Humbrol 168 hemp satin. Had to use too many layers and it's now thicker than
I'd like. Also I had problems with the Halfords white primer. Despite shaking well and warming, then
trying out on a test model, when applied to the Ki-46 it sputtered powder after a few seconds of
spraying. Once I'd sanded the rough texture off, the second coat crazed. Grrrr.

anyway here's the result:

As PTB11 noted the canopy is a pain, thick with very undefined frame-working. the u/c legs have
rather a weak attachment too and I added extra super-glue to add a bit of strength. Other than
that it's a simple kit but quite a pleasant build.
