Revell 1/72 Sopwith Camel

Post by VickersVandal »

This is a DNF blitz - mainly DNF because my EZ line rigging thread vanished. I will not use stretched sprue again. Sweet mercy....so painful!
Blitz thread: http://uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=338&t=13303;

It's basically a Biggles build - for my brother to add to his display shelf. I used the kit decals and registration number, so no special effort there.

Nice kit to build up. I replaced the prop and tail skid from Roden spares and scratchbuilt an interior. All else is Revell.

Thanks.

The lack of control wires/horns would bother me greatly if it was on my shelf....which is why it won't be

If nothing else, this build has cured me of the brief bout of insanity that led me to think that stretched sprue was a rigging option I might use regularly.

Very nice build. I have never tried stretched sprue for rigging (I have only rigged one model) however I have tried it for antennas. It is not too easy to get nice lines. Brave to do it. Good job!

This is it. The moment we should have trained for.

Good work, David!
I started using stretched sprue for rigging on an Airfix Walfisch some years ago, and haven't finished yet!
I suspect I was completely worn out after my FROG Swordfish.

cheers,

David

Cheers, all.
New EZ line ordered and motoring its way to my door. No more stretched sprue for me.

David, Red Roo sell EZ line. I don't know of any other store in Aus that does. If you haven't got any, I highly recommend getting a reel.

The Camel has gone with my rather chuffed brother to join the other models in his display.

Outstanding bit of modelling. Lovely finish and I'm find it hard to comprehend trying to blitz it
