FROG (Revell) Focke Wulf Ta152

Post by Springy67 »

Hey All

This is the venerable FROG Focke Wulf Ta152 from the Revell boxing.

From images I have seen, these tended to carry quite a bit of smoke-blackening along the fuselage, probably from the poor quality fuel the Luftwaffe were using at the end of the war. I tried to depict a plane which had had a hard life.

Like many FROG kits, the undercarriage was shocking, a couple of buttons to be held in place with a bit of heat-flattened plastic, hence it was built gear-up. I managed to get the prop to spin freely but, before I could take any photos of the plane 'in flight', the pin sheared off so it's now fixed in place. :-|

The markings are for an aircraft of Jagdgeschwader Springy, a little known unit operating in the realms of my imagination.

Those FROG models turn out nice basic renditions. I'm a great fan of them.

Nice Ta 152. I want to have a go at this and give it a bit of tlc.

regards,

Martin

PS If I am correct, those decals are from an earlier boxing of the Airfix FW190D-9 kit. I find it worrying that I possess that information . . .

I remember this one-used to come on a header card? Nice job on it, btw.

I seem to remember the Airfix Fw190D having TX+DI codes (or something along those lines).

Nicely done!

The 152 should look more elegant than it does; thin wings, and long, tapered fuselage....but it still just looks brutish (to me anyhow!)
Best wishes

Well done. I love seeing these old kits from my youth built up well. I remember buying that one many moons ago but don't think I ever got round to building it.

Excellent build of what is basically a crude kit: but an interesting one nonetheless. Reminds me too of modelling days long past… but I will not go any further!

Thanks all

For its age, it went together very well, I don't think I had to use much filler, if any.

Martin R - correct, the yellow 10s are from the Airfix FW190 D9. I built the version with the red and white-striped undersides.

That's a very nicely finished Whiff build ;-) , it is a great kit even if a little basic and with a bit of TLC . . . . . only your skill and patience will govern the end product ;-)
Mine's pulled apart, waiting for a complete rebuild.
Been modelling for years, still learning . . . .
Model kits are meant to be assembled . . . . . . . . . . eventually.
