Does anyone know of a method for removing old yellowed decals?
I want to refurbish some old builds by replacing the decals. Preferably without damaging the underlying paint work.
Apologies if this is in the wrong forum area. Mods please feel free to shift it if you like.

Two methods I use;
a. arrange so the part of the model with decal on can sit in a water bath for a time; helps loosen decal
b. use cellotape, by covering with it, rubbing down hard and pulling it off in one sharp movement. Might take a few goes to get all of decal off. This often works even on decals which have got a thin coat of sealing varnish.

Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

You could also try DecalSol which should soften the decal to the point where you can use a toothbrush to gently scrub it off although I do like Fred's suggestion (b). If you are talking about kits made in days gone by, I used to apply decals straight over Matt paint which made them fairly easy to remove because they never adhered well in the first place!

Re: Advice needed - Removing old decals
I have just had a bit of a disaster with Humbrols New Decal fix. It softened the decal and three coats of dry acrylic paint and Clear. Try a bit of that soaked into a tissue.
So many models, so little time.
