It takes a bit of work, chiefly because of the age of the moulds. But it's basically all there.

The one area that is really not right are the exhaust cans on the Avons. They could do with replacing completely.

A great job, Eric, that has turned out very nicely indeed - especially considering that the moulds are about 5000 years old :ha: Joking aside, it's good to see a classic old Airfix airliner built in one of those great liveries from the past.

It's certainly a buidable kit. I have a few more in the stash and alternative decal sets to go with them.

I've been experimenting with a new lighting and background set up -

I like that! Really brings out the lines of the aircraft and augments the colour too.

I think the black background works with predominately white aircraft or aircraft with white roofs. I'll keep experimenting.

Your experimentation is paying off! Really nice presentation indeed Eric
Best wishes

+1 from me, Eric, the dark background has certainly made a difference as indeed has the addition of the boarding stairs.

It's amazing what a few little "display" changes can do for a model. The stairs come with the kit. Looking at period pictures of stairs used with Comets I couldn't find any that looked exactly like the version supplied in the kit - which I expect is rather generic in nature.

I did find some nice colour photos of BEA logo stairways in a few books and on the net and the colour scheme is representative of what BEA were using at the time. The only thing missing is the actual BEA logo which should be placed on the stair rail/ballustrade at the top.
