Straight from the box or not, it looks terrific, no doubt assisted by very good model making 8-)

A cracking good job on a kit that is not the easiest to build and paint.

Very nice. I would get lost trying to follow the camo "maze", well done ! I'll have to see if we have a US equivalent of Copydex, that's a very interesting method - thank you for it.

Lovely finish on the V-Bomber, inspirational. 8-) Apparently Copydex is not available in Canada, so have ordered direct from the U.K (thank God it's not a solvent) ;-)

I have found it available on Amazon and eBay.
All of the eBay items are tagged as UK sources; I am unsure about Amazon.

That looks brilliant! And the copydex tip will be invaluable I suspect
And certainly better than mine..... :frown:
Best wishes

Thank you everybody for all the kind comments, it is really appreciated considering it’s just a simple OOB build.

As for the kit itself, well for those of you unfamiliar with it I can say that, in terms of parts breakdown and construction, it is actually pretty simple, no more complex than a small jet fighter kit, but with bigger parts.

The biggest challenge is handling it during construction, simply because of it’s mammoth size. Make sure you clear your bench before commencing!

It is also a bit of a Filler Queen, it needs a lot of fill-sand-repeat around the wing/fuselage join, the tail cone and particularly the intakes, which are a bit of a pain to get at.

On the plus side, the undercarriage is simple despite looking complex and overall it’s an easy paint job to do (even easier if you do the all white one!).

Those of you with one in the stash, go on, you know you want to! It’d be nice to see one done to a higher standard than my effort.

It seems that a lot of people have jumped onto the Copydex thing, using Copydex as a quick and cheap masking medium, and I feel I ought to have a disclaimer. I have used this method for many years and have never had a problem but please be aware I have only ever used it over Humbrol enamels and cannot vouch for it’s safety on other makes and types of paint. Please don’t blame me if it doesn’t work for you, try it on a test piece first, PLEASE!!

Anyway, thanks again for the encouraging comments during the build and all the favourable comments upon completion, they ar all read and genuinely appreciated.

Now for something small…..

Dear Mr Zee

After seeing your article on the "UAMF" I promptly used the "Copydex" technique on my 1/48th scale Tamigawa Thunderbox and it stripped all of the paint off and further it has ruined the plastic to the degree that I cannot repaint.

You will hear from my lawyers in due course.

Dear Mr. Disgruntled (of Pontefract),

I am pleased to report that I have received the letter from your lawyers but I have to say that I think your claim for £8.7million in damages to be bordering on the side of somewhat excessive. But I also appreciate that Tamigawa kits can be quite expensive to purchase which may go some way to justifying this amount.

May I point out that Frog-a-fix also offer a model of the famed Thunderbox (F4-A variant) which is currently available for £3.99, hence please find enclosed a cheque for £3.99 plus an additional £1.95 for a tube of filler that may not have been required for your previous Tamigawa kit but which will certainly be required for the Frog-a-fix offering.

I hope this is a satisfactory settlement for all parties concerned.

May I also point out that it is very easy to confuse the product 'Copydex' for a similarly named product called 'Cepydox' and if I may quote from the famed and reliable source of information, Wikipedia:

'Copydex'(TM). A water based latex glue for harmless masking

'Cepydox'(TM). A commercially available highly concentrated form of seriously ****ing corrosive acid

Kind Regards,

Mr. Zee
