Waku 1/72 Yak 15
Finally finished this DNF from last year's vacform GB. Basically it needed painting which I have mentally in my head as being towards the end of a build but actually is probably at the half way mark. This replaces the PM Yak15 that was sacrificed to my daughter but not before I could rob the undercarriage parts from it. The Waku kit is far better detailed than the PM kit despite a complete lack of cockpit, the one I added can be barely seen as on unmasked the canopy had clouded and a curl of plastic had somehow become secured to the inside. I think some of the cloudiness was PVA that had wicked under the masking tape, and some was removed with a cocktail stick. I detailed the undercarriage bays too. Still it shapes up a lot better with my other early Yaks.

That's a very smart little build!
The paintwork has a beautifully matt finish, what did you use?

A neat little build, James, especially from a vacform.

Very sweet.

Cheers Iggie. Hannants Flat Acrylic Varnish. Very easy to use, gives a soft matt, compared to Humbrol Matt Cote which is dead matt.iggie wrote:That's a very smart little build!

BTW I've updated the original post with the build links.

Turned out well. Interesting design too. So it's a Waku vacu Yak? (sorry)

Shame about the canopy, but fine finish otherwise, James!

Nice one James, I bet that issue with the canopy was annoying but it is still a good model of an early jet.

Great work James! Very clean finish on I imagine a challenging build.

Quite an attractive aeroplane, too!
Would do well with a wide choice of markings.
