Airfix BE2c
Got the BE2c off the bench this morning. Leefe Robinson's aircraft (naturally).
Great kit, and well engineered for that tricky upper wing placement, by using a fixed cabane platform. One of the easiest biplanes to put together.
Painting it is a bit tricky if you follow the assembly instructions. Also don't get any paint on mating surfaces, otherwise it won't fit too well.
I forgot to connect the exhausts to the upper wing
A partial rig using EZ-line, enough to give the impression of a WW1 biplane. Vallejo Air paints, Ivory and Wood were used. Also Vallejo Model Colour Olive Grey for the PC10. That was just brushed on, as masking for airbrushing would have been tricky.
Highly recommended, this is probably Airfix's best biplane kit ever.
Cheers
Andrew

Re: Airfix BE2c
That looks delightful; it may be the best Airfix biplane ever but it still takes great modelling to turn out such a good result
Best wishes
Jim
If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Re: Airfix BE2c
Totally agree that it still takes a good modeller to produce a model of the quality I see in these photos. Great too to see Airfix producing some new biplanes - I hope that it continues.

Andrew please stop building beautiful models like this, my stash is too big, but I now need to go out and buy one of these.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Re: Airfix BE2c
That looks great, Andrew !!
I just got the BE2c-Fokker DFD and wish I had a hole in my schedule to do them right away. My goal is to work hard at a "see-through" effect, I had moderate success with my WNW Pup long ago and want to try again. 'fact, I got 2 of them so I'd have spares if I screwed it up.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

Very nice all round, but I especially like the look of the wings.

Re: Airfix BE2c
I just painted them, and didn't try any fancy shading techniques on the ribs. The ribbing is probably a bit exaggerated, but I think it captures the look quite well.Barry wrote:Very nice all round, but I especially like the look of the wings.

Very nice work. LMS just obtained the dogfight double and my name is on it.
