Lotnia Spitfire IX UTI
Re: Lotnia Spitfire IX UTI
Work on this one has halted for the time being, while I get various GB builds done and dusted (hopefully!).
However, this thing is rough. It is elephant making love to a pig ROUGH!

Hey, I'd completely forgotten about this build!
Well, that is until I dug the partially-built airframe out from under a pile of bits the other day.
I almost forgot how rough this bloody thing was!
I'm going to try to actually finish it off, with any luck!

Re: Lotnia Spitfire IX UTI
As a bit of a collector of Spitfire models, I actually bought one of these from a show somewhere. It was not one that I thought to build, and looking at the parts, I'm pretty sure it will stay in the box.
So many models, so little time.

O_T - yes, yes it is.
Chuck - yeah, I would maybe inflict it on people you REALLY don't like!

I'm sure it will polish up OK in your capable hands, Daren. Are you a modeller or a mouse?

Not quite!
I've started slinging paint on it, so I'll maybe get a few photos of it later.

Re: Lotnia Spitfire IX UTI
So, here's the story so far...
The wing pieces were so badly out of true that I had to build up the leading edges and then sand the bejesus out of them to make sure they were the right shape. The gaps between the fuselage and wing panels were Grand Canyon-esque, and these had to be filled before I could do anything else. I also somehow managed to lose the tailplane while the model was buried under the rest of flotsam on my desk. I managed to find a couple of replacements, albeit from an earlier variant. Nobody but me is going to notice that anyway!
In addition to losing the tailplanes, I lost all of the small assemblies!! So the spares box came to the rescue with radiators, air intake and canopy (which came from the HobbyBoss Mk.V kit, and fits surprisingly well!). I've also managed to find some spare undercarriage to go on.

Might be a bit of a rough kit but it certainly looks Spitfire shaped to me!

Good news Daren! if you've gotten a hankering for Musteline Posteriors, there's a single seat version of that kit available.
