Airfix Sea Harrier FA/2 1/72
Returned from my summer holiday and finally got around to finishing the Shar2.
I replaced the nose and nozzles with Pavla ones. Fit of the kit wasn't too bad, detail a bit vague in places. I wouldn't pay the asking for the latest release.
Painted in mostly Gunze Med Sea Grey. I painted the under wing tanks in dark sea grey.
Sea Harrier FA/2 of No.899 Naval Air Squadron , Fleet Air Arm ,RNAS Yeovilton . 2005.

Very nice indeed
Been modelling for years, still learning . . . .
Model kits are meant to be assembled . . . . . . . . . . eventually.

Looks great! How do the kit parts compare with the replacements you used?

HI Stupot, the kit nose looks wrong and the nozzles have a nasty seam down the middle you can't get rid of. The nose was only about £1.70 from Hannants, the nozzles also come with replacement intakes but I didn't use them and were £5+ again from Hannants.Stupot wrote:Looks great! Excellent work.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Looks great with that nose job.
Is there a more accurate FA/2 Sea Harrier kit out there?

Great-looking model. And good info.
I have the replacement intakes, but not the replacement nose, so will take another look.
Cheers,
David

Re: Airfix Sea Harrier FA/2 1/72
Thanks all, you could throw a fist full of money for add - ons and upgrades for this and the Shar1. Nose, intakes, gun pods , undercarriage . The list goes on. Airfix's Sea Harrier kits are well behind in detail and finesse compared to the later GR1 and 3 kits but I think this is the only kit out there of the type.

Wow I like your work, greetins..........

Re: Airfix Sea Harrier FA/2 1/72
Very nicely done, the Pavla bits do alleviate some of the worst glitches with the kit. You can still find the Xtrakit/Special Hobby FA2 available, but like the Airfix it probably raises more questions than answers, so there's still room for somebody to turn out a definitive FA2 in 1/72.
