Novo Fairey Gannet, 816SQN HMAS Melbourne

Post by RayS »

This is the Novo 1/72 Gannet, it is in the markings of 816SQN, RAN serving aboard HMAS Melbourne in the 1960s.

It was built OOB with Red Roo decals as a mojo buster.

Proof that there can be life in an old dog od a kit. That looks superb. Very well done good sir.

All the best.

Thanks gents, I think I will be digging a few more older tool kits out of the stash for a few stress free builds in the future.

Lovely job with your chocolate Gannet. Don't leave it out in the sun!

Lovely result Ray, the finish belies the kits age.

Lovely model and shows that the older products still produce excellent displays.

I have also moved back to simpler models from the likes of Plastic Soldier Company etc. and totally agree with the stress free comment. The other thing is that many of the older companies produce more interesting and unusual subjects (like your Gannet) rather than usual subjects repeatedly churned out by the current companies.

My models will never win any prizes but I enjoy doing them!

I too love classic kits rather than new moulds. Lovely job on this one, Ray.
