Let 200A 1/72 AZ models *Finished *
A very attractive light twin from the 60's
The parts....same as for Merlin's L 200D.
The markings...I was taken by the box art version, but then thought I'd do the 2nd one down. Unfortunately, the decal sheet is incomplete. AZ gives the silver trim stripe on the fuselage, but it stops short of the nose. Taping off and painting that kind of compound curvature would really be tricky and trying to match the shade of silver would make it all the more so, then I realized that they hadn't given the little silver pinstripe on the nacelle either. So, back to the boxtop.
This is what it would've looked like. The kit decal ends right about where the prop blade crosses it in this photo.
The windshield and rear windows are given as one piece. I could just see myself trying to install these after the interior was done and the fuselage closed up: trimming the openings and getting debris inside then having to fish the pieces out of the cockpit after they popped through on me....Bruce managed his beautifully, but for me it seemed easier to separate them into halves and clean up the seam along with the fuselage. Both front and rear have nice, wide center posts to help hide any scarring.
I carved out this little exhaust duct....there's also a 'sugar scoop' exhaust door that needs to be scratched. It mounts on the bottom just ahead of the l/g bay opening.
Interior trim with door handle, ash tray, and door pocket.
Add seat belts, and levers on the consoles.
And here we are. The nacelle pieces fit the resin fronts just fine, but were too narrow at the wing leading edge. Not by much, but still leaving a step, so I glued them there as separate halves. then pinched them together at the front. Also put on clear cover for the light in the nose.

Going well, Barry. I like the idea of splitting the windscreen and rear window.
(I was tempted to scratch a nodding-dog!)

Bruce

A nodding dog? Love it! Over here we call 'em 'bobble heads'

Wonderful work, Barry. Makes you think, what would happen if Cessna crossed the 310 with an Ercoupe.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Re: Let 200A 1/72 AZ models
OK, so I take back what I said about the engine fronts fitting just fine. The mating surfaces at the wing roots were pretty good though as far as setting equal dihedral to the wings. Had to tweak it just a little.

Re: Let 200A 1/72 AZ models
Tweaking's good...and expected with AZ, (as opposed to all-out scratching, as per AModel).

Getting there.... I gotta tell ya: Putting these decals on is a character building exercise. They'll teach you the virtues of patience and gentility and persistence and swearing (a lot of swearing). Tissue thin is what they are. The printing is beautiful though and one does come away with a well earned sense of accomplishment
