Here's some info about the 633 Taifuns as mentioned previously, might be useful:

Cheers for that. Those are the photos I'd seen previously.

I'll either look out some chevrons or some numbers for the '108.

So, two more aircraft have hit the desk....

T-6 Harvard/Typhoon from A Bridge Too Far

Hurricane IIc from Battle of Britain

The Harvard is already very far along, seeing a it's the HobbyBoss kit that I'm doing, but the rear fuselage modification is going to be interesting....

(The Harvards were variously used to play RAF, USAAF and Luftwaffe aircraft.)

That shot looks more like a Tempest II than a Tiffie!

On the subject of stand-in aircraft, have you ever thought about (have we mentioned before in this thread? :?:) an F-84F "ThunderMiG" from The Hunters?

I think we might have mentioned that one, but thus far I've done aircraft from films that I own on DVD or blu-ray.

I've still got two other Cold War aircraft to do at some point....!

Well, here's my latest work in progress - the T-6 Harvard-Tiffie.

Creating that razorback profile was.... interesting! It's all filler. If I had thought properly about it, I would have done it with plastic card.

The paint scheme was also a bit of a headache. What few photos I've seen of the Harvard-Tiffie show what looks like a rather haphazard paint scheme (you know, a "that'll do" look so they could just be seen on screen, nothing more), but the more I looked, the more it seemed to be a reversed B-scheme, so that's what I tried to do. The invasion stripes and roundels will cover up some of it, with any luck!

Still got to install the undercarriage, paint on the D-Day stripes beneath the wings and fuselage, plus fit the bombs. Amazing to think they actually dropped the dummy ordnance in the film!

So, here she is....

The wing roundels are a guess - you never really see them in the film, but they fit perfectly on the model. The bombs came off a Stuka model which is in need of repair!

Nice one, Daz, that is a Harvard conversion that I've never seen done. In fact to me the Bridge Too Far Harvard "Tiffie" looks more like a Commonwealth Boomerang than the intended Typhoon!
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Work is the curse of the modelling classes!

Up on the desk now....

Image

I'll be doing it as a Mk.II version from 501 Squadron, stock footage of the aircraft appears in no less than THREE films - First of the Few, Reach for the Sky, and Sink The Bismarck! (where it appears as a photo-recce aircraft, for some reason!)

Yeah, it does a bit! The same aircraft also appear as Thunderbolts and FW-190s in the film!

That T-6 turned out very respectable, Darren!

Have you done a Spitfire from "Malta Story"? Alec Guinness movie. It was a recce Spit. Can't remember if they actually used a Mk.19.

Cheers,

Thanks!

Yes, I have indeed! Malta Story is one of my favourites, and the recce Spit has been done (it was a high-back Mk.XVI, incidentally).

I've also done a couple of the fighters from it, too.

Nice Harphoon Daz.
BTW have you seen the movie 'Sully'?
No, I'm not suggesting an Airbus, but there's a flashback sequence where Sully loses both engines on his Nellis based, Vietnam camo'ed USAF Phantom and has to glide it home.

Funnily enough, I watched that the other day. Not bad!

I did think of doing a Phantom - from Iron Eagle 2....! ;-)
