Lovely little kit, a doddle to put together. My only complaint is that there's no decal for the instrument panel!

A couple of weeks ago, I found one of these in my loft:

Completely forgot it was up there, but I brought it down just in case I found a use for it.

Well, I did.

While I'm doing my Sopwith Camel and the B-25 for the two GBs that are currently running, I decided to break out this wee Spit to add to the movie stars collection.

Back in 1990, Nigel Havers starred in a TV series about a badly burned fighter pilot who longs to get back into the cockpit, in the TV series A Perfect Hero:

Three Spitfires were used in the TV series, and screen stalwart MH434 was one of them, wearing these markings:

Should be simple enough!

Great work with the Mk XIX Daren. I have to admit that I don't recall Nigel Havers in that series but nevertheless I look forward to seeing the Mk IX.

The series is worth a look, but I don't think it's quite as good as Piece of Cake.

I have a Buchon from this TV series, too!

I remember that series it was quite entertaining despite having Spits instead of Hurricanes. :ha:

So, another Spitfire landed on the doormat yesterday, and while I was contemplating a project to use it on, I remembered one Spit that I haven't done yet - the PR aircraft from Malta Story!

Alec Guinness plays Flight Lieutenant Peter Ross in the film, and in it he is charged with taking photographs of various German convoys throughout the course of the film. It's a little-known fact that his character is loosely-based on the real-life Malta hero, Adrian Warburton.
Image

Guinness's aircraft is a photo-recce Spitfire variant, played throughout by a high-back Spitfire Mk.XVI. Unlike the other aircraft in the film, it's painted in a single colour (as were the real ones), so it should be a relatively easy build!

Anyway, back to the Camel and the Mitchell....!

Does anyone happen to have any of these roundels to spare? I need 4 in 1/72 scale if possible!
