Hasegawa A-10 Thunderbolt II

Post by shangos70 »

Hasegawa's old A-10. First built and brush painted back in the mists of time. I always wanted to have another go. I've had this stashed for quite a while as I wanted to freehand the camo once I thought I could manage it. I'm pleased with how it turned out , I used Xtracrylix and Gunze. The Gunze grey was a doddle to spray,no clogging or drying on the tip.
She's lightly armed at the moment, I still have to add the Mavericks.

Looks really nice, I'm very impressed with your freehand camo; don't think I could achieve that without masks. Do you have any 'before' shots to compare the restoration with?

Agree very much with Migrant; freehand camo is not something I will be tackling any time soon! Kudos to you!
Best wishes

Hi Mike, thanks for the kind words. This is a new build, I wish I still had the old one but it disappeared some 20yrs ago.

Really nice. And a proper scheme for the A10.

That has scrubbed up well Shane and features a nifty bit of freehand camo work I must say 8-)

Cheers Shaun, was a bit touch and go sometimes with quite a bit touching up. Once Kleared it brought it all together nicely. Boshed it over with rattle can Humbrol matt for the final finish. I was a bit worried about the decals, they were a bit thick and gloopy.Hot water brought them off easily and I plopped em on a puddle of Klear.
I lost one in the end, the Pilot and crew chief data that goes under the canopy.
