Today I finished the LF models Lockheed Altair.
I build it as the Lockheed XRO-1, the personal plane of the Assistent secretary of the Navy in 1930.
The build was pretty easy for a short run resin kit and I am happy with the outcome.

That's a beautiful build mate. Very nicely done.

Just a query out of curiosity - should the fuselage stripe and lettering be yellow or white? I'm curious because some time ago, I did a restoration of a vacform model that had been made by Gordon Stevens. He had used white. It's hard to interpret monochrome photos, i.e. as to whether the stripe and lettering is white or yellow. I have one in a book that could show yellow as it is different from the white in the fin stripe. The only colour photos of the Altair show the stripe as white. Yellow lettering would be unique on a US Navy aircraft of the period, but perhaps for the Assistant Secretary of State, an exception might have been made. I don't know enough about it to know which is correct, so I'm asking.

That's a good question. I recently bought a great book on command aircraft.
Naval fighters number one hundred "Blue goose" command aircraft of the USN, USMC and USCG 1911 to 1961.
there's one photo of the XRO-1 in black and white but also a colour drawing.
I personally think it was gold colour but where do you get gold colored us navy style lettering?
I found yellow lettering so that was decided.
what do you think?

On looking at my version, it seems as if I used silver, not white, for the fuselage stripe! Unfortunately we can't ask Gordon Stevens why he used silver.

Well, colour arguments aside, it looks great (yellow wings schemes always look good in my opinion) and is a type I've never heard of.

Very smart finish! Never even heard of this aircraft before - the fuselage ends abruptly into a large tail!

Another excellent build of a little known subject (to me, anyway).

Simply stunning.

It's great to see these little-known types preserved and remembered.
