Monogram 1/48 AD6 Skyraider

Post by Martin R »

Here's my Able Dog, bought for 8 of the Queen's pounds at last year's Telford kitswap.

I've been working on it sporadically ever since. Apart from the caannon barrels, it's oob.

Not my best build, but I'm glad it's finally finished!

That's good! The green really lifts the scheme but without being overpowering
Best wishes

Eight quid? that's a proper bargain for a 1/48th Spad! I don't know how good, bad or indifferent this Monogram kit is but I have heard good things about some of their old 1/48th scale efforts and had I been after a quarter scale Skyraider I would have given it a punt at that money. Very nicely done Martin, that really does look good.

Very nice Martin. Really like your exhaust streaking. The Monogram kit holds up quite well even by today's standards. IMHO

Thanks chaps!

While I can't imagine it giving the Tamiya a run for its money, there was some really nice detail in the cockpit and wheel well that just needed some careful painting, washing and dry-brushing to lift out. Well worth a build, imho.

I'll post some more pics in due course.

 Excellent work on the exhaust staining, that is something that is very hard to get right but you have nailed it.

Guys,

Not being overly gifted in the IT department, I still can't resize my photos. Here's a link to some more views, though:

I really like the finish you have achieved on this. Realistic level of sheen, not sloppy but not toy-like either. Very nice!

I'm another fan of Monogram models. Would be down for a GB sometime?
